How to eat less sugar

You don't have to give up all sugar all at once to reap these benefits! Small steps count and add up to big wins when it comes to improving your health.  If you normally have 2 or 3 teaspoons of sugar in your morning... coffee or tea, reduce that to just 1 or 2 teaspoons.
Reach for fruit :  Why have a brownie or a slice of pie when fruit might satisfy your sweet craving just as well? Replace your usual dessert with fruit and save the chocolate mocha mousse cake as an occasional treat.
Check for hidden sugar : Read food labels and keep an eye out for hidden sugars as you shop. You might be surprised by how many — and which — foods often contain added sugar: applesauce, bread, ketchup, peanut butter, and tomato sauce are just a few. Select sugar-free varieties whenever possible.
Drink water : You may love a sweet, flavored coffee concoction in the afternoon, but it's probably loaded with sugar. Replace those beverages with water to eliminate a major source of the sweet stuff.
Hit the road : Next time you crave a sweet snack go for a short walk. Research has shown that after exercising, athletes' craving for sweets was decreased.
Remember to allow yourself an occasional splurge as you cut back on the amount of sugar you eat. Knowing that sugar isn't completely off-limits will help you stick to your resolution.
